Pennsylvania Highlands Community College (Penn Highlands) recently celebrated the opening of its Blair County Center located inside of the Logan Valley Mall.
The event drew in large crowds throughout the day and evening including prominent business leaders as well as prospective students. Dr. Walter Asonevich, President of Penn Highlands commented that the Blair Center already has over 25 students enrolled for the fall semester. “We beat our goal

for fall enrollment and by next fall we expect to start with over 200 full-time students,” said
Dr. Asonevich.
Students can pursue two-year degrees at the Blair Center in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, psychology, general studies and teacher education. In addition, students can also earn credits that will transfer to four-year
colleges to continue their studies. Establishing the center within the mall will make Penn Highlands highly visible to prospective students as well as increase foot traffic for the mall and its array of businesses.
“Over the next decade, Penn Highlands’ Blair Center has the potential to grow to the same size as our main
campus in Richland (about 1,400 students),” added Dr. Asonevich.
