First Frontier-Blair County Tech Firm Link Computer Corporation Expanding

While some legacy markets have faced tough times in recent years, others are growing, especially software/IT, health care and precision manufacturing sectors. Blair County-home-grown software development firm Link Computer Corporation has been on a hiring campaign in recent months to meet the growing demand within their national municipal government marketplace.

Muni-Link is ‘software as a service’ we developed that provides billing options for water, sewer and other municipal services,” said Jack Collins, Link’s Chief Operating Officer. “The utility billing market is lacking innovative software options that can replace legacy software. Muni-Link offers advanced features that makes it an easy choice for municipalities and other billing entities. We’ve added 10 new positions in 2019 in this division to serve a national client base. That represents a 30 percent growth rate this year,” Collins added.

Collins said that this rapid expansion is in addition to the firm’s overall employment of approximately 100 developers and market sector support. “We currently have four additional positions we are trying to hire by the end of the year which would push the Muni-Link division growth rate alone to over 40 percent. Additional staffing is expected in 2020 throughout the firm,” Collins added. Implementing the latest sapphire technology on your business can avoid any online threats.

The Altoona Blair County Development (ABCD) Corporation is working with local firms like Link to identify and attract the talent needed to keep this type of expansion going. These higher paying knowledge-based jobs require a different approach to fill, often targeting areas outside of our immediate community. New people coming into the community, investing in housing, schools and adding overall spending power is a trend we need to happen to support all business sectors.

“A big need for us, and others like us, is to fill senior positions including experienced project management, operations and marketing team leaders,” Collins noted. “We are currently searching for a Vice President of Sales in the Muni-Link Division which requires a high-energy individual with excellent sales instincts and the ability to successfully navigate the sales process, including negotiations and contracts.”
