Altoona-Blair County, PA – June 18, 2021: The Altoona Blair County Development (ABCD) Corporation announced that Tipton Land Development, LLC, has executed a “lease-to-purchase” agreement with ABCD Corporation to occupy the former Gardner Denver Building in Northern Blair County. The building was originally developed by ABCD and leased to Gardner Denver in 2014. The company employed more than fifty people in their natural gas pump division before downsizing in 2018. They ultimately ceased operations in the building later that year.
Under this new arrangement, the building will accommodate the continued expansion of DelGrosso Foods, Inc. It will house additional warehousing, manufacturing, and office space for the rapidly growing food processing operation. “We are so happy this building could meet the needs of a home-grown corporation based right here in Blair County,” said Stephen McKnight, ABCD President and CEO. “This building will be put back into good use, creating and retaining both jobs and production capacity for the company,” he added.
DelGrosso Foods, Inc. is the oldest major family-owned producer of pasta sauce in the U.S., tracing its roots to 1914 and an Italian immigrant’s old-world recipe for pasta sauce. Ferdinand and Mafalda DelGrosso formalized production of the sauce for retail sale beginning in 1947. DelGrosso Foods is still family-owned and operated, and DelGrosso products are still manufactured in central PA, where the story began. Their line of ultra-premium pasta sauces, La Famiglia DelGrosso, can now be found at most major grocers across the United States. The family also owns and operates DelGrosso’s Park and Laguna Splash, as well as Marianna’s Fundraisers. For more information, visit www.delgrossos.com.
