UPMC Altoona offers more than 200 years of health care experience, over 300 talented and highly recognized physicians, nearly 4,000 specialized and experienced caregivers, and 600 supportive volunteers.
The health system serves more than 20 counties throughout Central Pennsylvania. Cancer services at UPMC Altoona are part of UPMC CancerCenter, partner with the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, one of the largest integrated cancer care networks in the country. UPMC CancerCenter at UPMC Altoona brings the renowned cancer services offered at the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh to Blair and surrounding counties.
In addition Blair County is home to Penn Highlands Tyrone in northern Blair County and Conemaugh Nason Medical Center in southern Blair County to serve the needs of our community members and businesses.

While Blair County is its own destination, we are located within 200 miles of 40 percent of the nation’s population and all major northeast markets.
If by land is your choice, Interstate 99 connects to major east-west corridors including the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I-80 and Route 22. Drive times range from 2 hours to Pittsburgh, 3 hours to Washington D.C., and 4 to 5 hours to Philadelphia and New York City.
If by air, the Altoona-Blair County Airport connects to Philadelphia with convenient morning and evening flights. Just a short drive north, State College Regional Airport connects to Philadelphia, Chicago and Newark, while a short drive west, Johnstown Airport connects to Washington/Dulles and Chicago.
If by rail, Amtrak stops in Downtown Altoona which provides mainline service to Pittsburgh and points westward and east to Philadelphia.
