ABCD Corp. has successfully initiated two industry partnerships; The Blair County Manufacturers Council and the Blair County Healthcare Industry Partnership, and both groups are looking for new members to join in the quarterly meetings.
Both groups meet once a quarter for a morning meeting to discuss a variety of topics that are of importance to the group as a whole. During the past year topics of discussion have included Legislative Updates and Implications; Energy Conservation; Group Purchasing; Research & Development Initiatives; University Partnerships and Workforce Development and Training.
Both of the groups have a strong partnership with the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Investment Board (SAWIB) who has the ability to bring opportunities and possible funds for training employees. “Through these formal Industry Partnerships, the WIB is able to leverage funds for training programs and opportunities that many companies wouldn’t be able to access or afford on their own,” said Marty Culp with the SAWIB.
We are now looking for new members to join both groups with the next meetings at the beginning of December 2011 and then March 2012. If your organization is involved in any aspect of Healthcare or Manufacturing, including training for these high demand positions, please get involved. The success of these groups depends on involvement from the business community.
