On June 1, 2017 the Wingate by Wyndham opened in Downtown Altoona followed by the opening of the first dual-branded lodging facility in the state with the Fairfield Inn & TownePlace Suites on June 8, 2017.
The Altoona-Blair County Development Corp. team were partners in the financing these projects and were happy to be a part of the ribbon cutting events. “This is exciting for the City of Altoona and for the Blair County region to welcome these top-tier brands and facilities to our community,” said Steve McKnight Pres/CEO of ABCD Corp. “These projects are a testament to the level of business and tourism that our region is generating to support the investment and creation of jobs at these hotel properties.”
The combination of these three properties has added over 230 new room choices into our market with a combination of traditional hotel rooms, junior suites and long-term stay rooms complete with kitchens and various floorplan options. Along with the creation of new jobs for Blair County these grand openings represent a total combined project investment in excess of $33.7 million in the City of Altoona.
Blair County continues to grow as a preferred destination for business location and growth as well as a premier travel and leisure location for groups of all sizes.
